Twice Gorilla Trekking is an extraordinary, unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impression. It’s a journey you’ll cherish for years to come.
Day 1: Arrival and Flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Your adventure begins with a comfortable flight to the Northern or Southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We’ll pick you up from your hotel and assist with your check-in at Entebbe Airport, where you’ll board an Aerolink flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Enjoy breathtaking views of Uganda, especially if you fly to Kisoro, where you’ll witness the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Bunyonyi, and Lake Mutanda.
Upon landing, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your chosen lodge. Take this time to settle in and get comfortable at your luxurious accommodation.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trek
Get ready for an exhilarating day of Mountain Gorilla Tracking. After an early breakfast, pack your lunch and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Headquarters. Here, you’ll receive an orientation and meet your expert guides, who will assign you to a gorilla group.
Ensure you have light hiking boots, a rain jacket, a daypack, 2 liters of water, and gardening gloves. Dress in long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses for skin protection. Don’t forget insect repellent to ward off flies. Porter services are available, as are walking sticks for support.
During the trek, be prepared for some challenging climbs and hikes. However, the diverse flora and fauna, along with other primates, mammals, birds, and butterflies, will make the experience even more rewarding. When you encounter the gentle Mountain Gorillas up close, just meters away, you’ll witness their daily routines and interactions.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek
After breakfast, embark on your second Gorilla Trek, this time with a different gorilla family group for a distinct encounter. Even if you track the same group as the previous day, the experience remains unique as gorillas move daily and create new nests in different locations. Dress similarly to the previous day, and porter services will be provided for your daypack.
Gorilla Treks can last from 2 to 5 hours or more, offering breathtaking and awe-inspiring moments, especially when shared with a friend or loved one. Enjoy dinner at the lodge.
Day 4: Return to Entebbe
It’s breakfast time in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You can choose to take the morning or afternoon flight back to Entebbe. If you opt for the afternoon flight, we can arrange an activity for you. After that, you can fly back to Entebbe, where a driver-guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. Alternatively, we can make arrangements for your flight out. We hope you’ve enjoyed your twice gorilla tracking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Optional Extensions:
If you want to extend your 4-day safari to 5 days, you can include a trek through Bwindi Forest and visit gorillas at both ends of the park. This extended hike can continue to Lake Mutanda from Nkuringo. This will offer you a unique experience with a dugout canoe ride across the lake.
Alternatively, you can track gorillas in Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla Park. You can also add volcano climbing, golden monkey trekking, and immersive experiences with the Batwa People, the forest’s original inhabitants.
