Uganda provides the snow capped Rwenzori mountain ranges standing at 5,119m also known as “the mountains of the moon”. It requires one 6 to 7 days to complete the hiking circuit on this mountain. Mini/ shorter safaris can also be arranged but these do not reach the highest peak. Mt. Elgon (4321m) has some excellent trails for hiking ranging from 3 to 7 days, and Mt Muhavura (4127m) is in the many equally rewarding mountain sites with two other challenging peaks to hike. A trip to one of these mountains is a lifetime, exciting and rewarding adventure giving you opportunity for the animals and birds in the mountain trails charming slopes through dense montane forest mixed with bamboo belts teaming with bird life. You will also find interesting endemic plant species such as giant lobelia and groundsels; primates such as black and white Columbus monkey, blue monkey and hundreds of fascinating bird species including Golden Winged Tucazze, Sun birds, Ross’s Hartlaubs and turacos.

Mount Elgon in the East of the country on the border with Kenya and Mount Sabinyo, Mount Mahinga and Mount Muhavura in the Southwest of Uganda in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Mgahinga Gorilla Park offers you the most doable in the shortest of time. Each Volcano can be climbed in one day with a guide to the peaks where the views are breath taking. The latter also requires the smallest amount of equipment since each climb – hike is a one day venture.
