4-Day Private Tented Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda

Explore Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Trekking, Wildlife, Birding, and more with the Ishasha Region’s Tree Climbing Lions.

If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, consider a tented safari in the African wilderness. Queen Elizabeth National Park is the perfect destination for this adventure. We have curated a special 4-day safari package for those who enjoy spending time in a tented camp at Queen Elizabeth Park. We have carefully chosen two small tented camps, each with only five rooms (tents). One camp offers moderate pricing, while the other is a luxurious option. Both camps provide an immersive experience that brings you closer to the African wilderness.

Day 1: Head to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Afternoon Game Drive

Depart Kampala at 6:30 a.m. for Queen Elizabeth Park. Experience a Tented Safari Camp Adventure in the Wild. Drive through the Ugandan countryside—Head to Bush Lodge at Queen Elizabeth Park. Enjoy the lodge’s comfort and intimacy. Relax in your self-contained tent. Each tent has a private veranda. Admire the sunrise or sunset with a cold drink.

This camp is ideal for those who want to avoid the crowds and observe more wildlife. Tents are self-contained with attached bathrooms and double-headed showers. The price is reasonable with full board. You can easily access the Mweya wildlife game tracks and Kyambura Gorge for Chimpanzee Tracking. You will arrive in time for lunch and spend two nights in the camp. Take your time to enjoy lunch and settle in.

In the late afternoon, a professional wildlife and bird expert will take you on your first wildlife tracking ride. They will ensure that you don’t miss out on anything and will answer any questions. As you ride across the savannah and rolling hills of Queen Elizabeth Park, the Rwenzori Mountains will grace the background, and you will have the opportunity to see abundant lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. After the ride, you will have dinner at the Bush Lodge and settle in for a night in the African Bush, where you will be able to hear its distinct sounds as you drift off to sleep.

Lodging: Bush Lodge – all meals

Day 2: Chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge and afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

A morning at Bush Lodge is incomplete without a sumptuous breakfast to prepare you for a day with the chimpanzees at Kyambura Gorge. The African Bush is known for its hearty breakfast, and even vegetarians might be tempted by the aroma of sizzling bacon and sausages. You can have a cup of Rwenzori Mountain Coffee made from Arabica Beans, or a cup of delicious tea from nearby plantations. Pineapple is also available. At Bush Lodge, it’s time to enjoy your breakfast in the Bush.

Next, you’ll visit the Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee Tracking, which is part of the giant Rift Valley. The chimpanzees move daily and build new nests each day. The chimpanzees are used to human beings, so they are habituated. You’ll spot other wildlife and birds as you move on your three-hour tracking. Afterward, you’ll return to Bush Lodge for a well-deserved lunch.

In the afternoon, you’ll have a more relaxed time as you take a wildlife and birding boat ride on the famous Kazinga Channel. You’ll see thousands of buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, crocodiles, pelicans, fish eagles, and more. It’s a feast for your eyes and your camera. Dinner at Bush Lodge follows.

Then, you’ll experience a surprise Nocturnal Game Drive with spotlights to see the predators out at night on the hunt. You’ll also see hyenas, lions, leopards, and other wildlife. Keep your eyes open and allow your guide to point out the animals around you. It’s a fabulous experience and a time to remember.

Lodging: Bush Lodge – all meals

Day 3: We move to the less visited Ishasha Region famous for Tree-Climbing Lions Search along with other Wildlife

We start the day with breakfast at Bush Lodge before moving on to our next destination, another tented lodge in the wilderness. But first, we are going on a morning game drive, the last one in the Mweya area of the Park. We will see some familiar animals in a different setting, and there are always surprises. With 90 some mammals in the park, there is always a surprise around the corner.

Next, we will head towards the Ishasha Plains of the Park to our new lodging for the night. You can choose from luxury Up-Market Camp at Ishasha Wilderness Tented Camp, where you will be pampered, or budget Ishasha River Camp. Once you settle into your large tent, you can enjoy the view and often watch the wildlife that is near, such as elephants coming to drink water from your veranda.

Lunch is not just a meal but a well-prepared and well-thought-out one, prepared with love and presented gracefully, often surprising visitors.

After lunch, we will go on an afternoon game drive across the Ishasha Plains in search of Tree Climbing Lions, Leopards, herds of Buffaloes, Elephants, antelopes, and lots of savannah birds. You will also notice a vast absence of Safari Vehicles in this part of the park.

Dinner is a glorious celebratory event at the Luxury Tented Camp. It has probably been a most eventful day for you, and there is much to discuss over the meal as the sun sets. Once again, you settle down and go to sleep with the sound of the African Wild and the incredible quiet that is there. As you look up, you will probably find a vast sea of stars gracing the night sky.

Lodging: Ishasha Jungle Lodge – all meals

Day 4, We return to Kampala or Entebbe, with stops for lunch in Mbarara and to visit the Equator.

It’s breakfast time on the Ishasha Plains. The nearby river is gurgling by and the morning birds are chirping away. In the distance, some animals are moving away. This signals that morning has come to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Unfortunately, some good things must come to an end, and it is time to check out. Afterward, we will take a morning drive through the Ishasha Plains to take another look at the tree-climbing lions and the abundance of wildlife found in that part of the park. Next, we will head for Kampala. We will stop for lunch in Mbarara and then visit the Equator. If you wish to, we can also visit the Buganda Royal Drum Makers, where you can even pick up a few drums. We will arrive late afternoon in Kampala, and sadly, the Tented Camp Wilderness experience will come to an end.
